Artist Problems: Stupidest Conversation I've had on Facebook....

As an artist for hire, sometimes you get the short end of the stick. I've had plenty of people on hentai-foundry, ask me to draw more of a certain character, and I've mentioned that I do commission work, once I mention anything about the exchange of money, they tell me they don't want it or that it's too much. I've had someone annoyingly ask me to draw a porno parody of Creepy Suzie, after stating they wouldn't pay to get me to draw it.    What sense does that make? For a small price you can have me draw something original and send it to you for keeps. And hell you can even have the bragging rights to say, "I had him draw that for me!"...

But for whatever reason, it was only two days ago, I had one of the most annoying, most facepalming conversation I've ever had on facebook, besides the one of the stupid twat who wanted Creepy Suzie. After a blog post by my fellow artist, Nev. I felt I should share this.

(This is me talking about my actions and reactions)
Him: Yo.
Me:    Hey
Him:   Yeah, I have a comic book series called *******.
(He's entitled to the title of his book, regardless if it's already the title of a Judas Priest song)
Me: Hold on....How much did Locke charge?
(Prior to this chat, he mentioned that he tried to get Vince Locke to draw his comic)
Him: I talked to him a few years ago about it, I believe it was 500 per page.
(A few years? You coulda' save up the money by now!)
Me: Holy smokes! But he is the man though!
Him:   -Yeah. Exactly. He loved the series. It's brutal.
(Anyone else hate it, when someone say's "It's Brutal?")
Me: Well I don't charge even that close for one page. But yer interested so that's good.
Him: - Oh, I thought you were a comic company. This is a six part series. ... for adults only.
(I shoulda' ended the conversation here, he didn't even bother to look at my fuckin' facebook page to see my links or to even look at my artwork.)
Me: Yeah....And yer talking to the Pervert King! Wait....does Locke have his own company?
(My ego talkin....don't act like you don't do that)
Him: No, but he freelances for several comics... Deadworld, Sandman, etc.
Me: So what's the deal then?
Him: - ?
Me: What's this all about?
(He describes his comic idea, which because I've seen too many movies, starts off as Mazes and Monsters/Skull Duggery, then turns into Blair witch 2/the Craft, with a hint of Event Horizon, then ends like an issue of Tales of Uranus: namely Night of the Maggots)
Him: I have the entire cover sheet.
(And I don't care....)
Me: It all sounds good.....so what's the problem then? You couldn't get anyone to draw or publish this?
(Or didn't wanna pay anyone?)
Him: - Not yet. It is very graphic (sexually and violently). Vince was the most interested. I can't find any adult/ Horror comic companies.

Me: No, my life attacks alot, so I haven't released any full length things in a while.
Him: Ah. Well, I'll let you see it if you want. It's only the scripts, waiting for an Artist/ Publisher. I'll check out your site.

Him: Only one of the links (Blood and Gore) in illustration worked, but I liked what I saw... and the hatemail that said "people like you are the reason God stopped talking to us" pretty much sold me.

Him: I just got Metal covers to work as well... Cool stuff.

Him: Well, if you want to see/ illustrate/ release them, where do we go from here? I was planning on releasing each comic individually, and then all together as a graphic novel.

Me: Yes....Are you willing to shell out the doh for that?

Him: Ohhh, so are you more like a service? Ive checked with other comic publishers and they don't charge. They have an in-house Artist and release them, splitting the royalties.

If the person I had this conversation with is reading this, before you get all butt-hurt and start crying and moaning about what a horrible guy I was, I hope you really looked at how you and I sounded on this chat. And yer lucky that I'm only a small underground artist, imagine the flakk you would of gotten had you tried to hire Vince Locke. Which I imagine already happened, when you talked to him, said you weren't an artist for an established company, wouldn't pay him till you printed it, and on top of that, hinted at the fact that you weren't planning on spending any of yer own money to publish it.

You wrote a story, of yer own volition. It belongs to you. When someone else draws it, the story itself doesn't belong to them. It still belongs to you, which means you could easily get another artist to draw it. Second of all, if yer not an established writer, no one cares that you wrote a comic book. If I drew yer comic people are gonna buy it, because I drew it. Not to blow my own horn, but yeah, they'd buy it to see my visceral work......Now if you Jack Ketchum, and wrote a story, people would buy it to see what the mighty Ketchum had me draw. So there you go, take this as a lesson.

Dear Celebrities,

I totally understand that you wanna help people in other countries. But you seem to neglect the people who are hurting, starving and in bondage here. Unless of course it's animal abuse, then yer all over it for some reason. There are tons of kids here, who need food, clothes, better living conditions, education and medical attention. But for the most part, there are in areas were you'd be too scared to go. Or they're the wrong color or whatever. A starving child in the US doesn't need you telling them that someone needs food more, while you drive a luxury vehicle.

Second of all, since yer not a citizen of those countries yer trying to help. There's no guarantee that yer donations are going to the people who need it, and unless you control the money, drugs and guns of a region, you cannot change it. You can't change it, because to even change it a bit, requires guerrilla warfare or funding of mercenaries. And in that case, the militias you fund, might themselves commit the same atrocities of the militias they're fighting against. You cannot fix their problems little by little, members of a group or the corrupt in the government or republic can be easily replaced. So unless you have an idea as to completely turn back every single thing bad that happened, you not helping.

Third of all.....GO FUCK YOURSELF!!!! You live in million dollars homes, drive expensive cars, fly around in private jets and you tell the rest of us in the lower class that we're being selfish and don't give enough. I don't have a bank account in the Hundred Billions....I barely make it in the 5 digits a year. I can barely afford to pay my rent, and I usually eat fast food to survive. And then you go on all these talk shows and go on the radio, saying how you've changed things for the better. But you go home, you don't worry about roaches, the power going out, robbery or evictions.....Stop acting like you live it hard, when you live in luxury. Fuck YOU!!!! You support and fund a government that screws the rest of us! There's plenty of charities here in our own country, give to those....Till then, EAT A DICK!!!

Ranarchy's The "Big 5" (Movies that'll make you take a shower)

I know that many of the people who follow me, are more likely to follow me because of my artwork. And not in my interest in horror and exploitation movies. So I know a lot of the people who follow me here and there, are not as knowledgeable in these types of movies as I am. So I've decided to talk about something, I normally only discuss with my friends.

The "Big 5"......

The Big 5 are 5 movies that the common man probably just couldn't handle, or maybe he doesn't want to. Or refuses to acknowledge. Namely in part of how "safe" horror movies have gotten, with most of them now being PG-13...... It's fun to know, that somewhere, true terror is still going strong. Let's begin.

In no particular order:

Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door:

This movie is infuriating to watch, you want to just dive in there and help that girl and her sister, but you can't. Even the edited version that was on the Chiller network is plenty bad. Not much on gore, but the tension and scenes implied are something to be seen!

Salo 120 Days of Sodom:

Spend a couple of days while a group of teens are being tortured in Nazi occupied Italy. And should you dare to get it. Enjoy it's upcoming release on Blu-Ray.

Men Behind the Sun:
A movie graphically depicted the experiments on POWs by Imperial Japan's Unit 731. The US release of the movie is to my understanding out of print, though not hard or expensive to find on Amazon or ebay. The true collector will seek the two disc UK release, or the incredibly limited boxset.

Black Sun: The Nanking Massacre:

From the director of Men Behind the Sun, T.F. Mou, comes the truly horrifying film that depicts the infamous "Rape of Nanking". The first 10 minutes will make you want to turn it off......Unearthed Films did a great job on it's US release

A Serbian Film:

Now here's the movie to beat, and even though it's gettin' released here in the US, on both DVD and Blu-Ray, those releases are edited. Even edited, the movie is NC-17, and something you won't forget. If yer willing and able to, seek the uncut DVD release of it that apparently was only in Sweden. Retired porn star Milios is lookin' to do one last film, till he finds out he's the star of a Necro-Pedo Snuff Film.... Lines will be crossed, that you really wish hadn't....

That's it. Some of you will question why I didn't put the movie; Martyrs, on here. It's because it's being remade, by the people who made Twilight. Nothing against the awesomeness that is Martyrs, you should probably see it. But the fact remains, it apparently couldn't cross a certain line....

Double Feature: Don't Be Afraid of the Dark/Shark Night 3D

Last night, I did something I haven't done since Grindhouse. Two Movies! One Night!

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark was the first movie. The atmosphere in the movie is great, and there are tons of moments where I wish I lived in the house in the movie. The creatures are kinda cool, and there is explanation to there existence and what they do. But it's not a super scary movie.....it's the kinda movie, that if you brought your kids they might be scared. But frankly, if you wanted to scare your kids with tiny homicidal creatures, let them watch Critters or the Zuni Fetish Doll story from Trilogy of Terror. But all in all, it's a solid film, it doesn't give me the scare I was hoping for, but I really did like the atmosphere and the setting and visuals!

Next was Shark Night 3D, and sadly for Shark Night 3D it came on the coat tails of the far superior Piranha 3D! Shark Night doesn't have Piranha's moxy! There are some moments of gore but you feel like the camera pulls away from anything super graphic...the movie seems to pull it's punches. There's no nudity, and the 3D really wasn't that great. I will give it to the character Malik (i.e. the only black guy in the film) he's a badass.....he gets his arm bitten off by a Bull Shark, then picks up a spear, uses his bloodies sweater to attract a Hammerhead, and kills it with said spear....that's badass. The other real problem with Shark Night is that the villians (the guys bringing the sharks in to this salt water lake) are too easy to spot....in the first 20 minutes you know who's the bad guys. The movie is fun though all in all....but had it an R-rating, and went the extra distance to show boobs and gore...it woulda' been better.....Till then, I happily await the release of Piranha 3 Double D!

Terrible Ideas: We Wish You A Turtle Christmas

I was born in 1984, which means I was in time for what would become a pop culture phenomenon. Although the comic came out the year I was born, it wasn't until 1987 that the infamous tv show would come out, and the merchandise apocalypse that followed. Ninja Turltes were the hottest thing, having a tv show, three movies, a cereal, a famous hostess pie, and a sultan's ransom in random crap. Eastman and Laird had clearly created a beast that could not be fed. "We Wish you a Turtle Christmas" came out in 1994, during season 8 and after the third movie. At this point in time, the craze was about to be on it's last legs.....the original series had seen better days, and frankly, it was just gettin' old, and so were it's viewers.

It makes sense that as the end was near, that they would just plain do ANYTHING to make a buck....."We Wish You a Turtle Christmas" was supposedly produced for only $5,000 bucks

So I'm watching "We Wish You a Turtle Christmas", because apparently I hate myself and want nothing more than to inflict horrible pain onto my person.

I'm not gonna bother posting the youtube videos of this god awful piece of trash. Knowing that I own the VHS is enough pure rotting vileness to quell my black festering heart of any possible joy I might get, of sharing it with the world. Sharing this abortion of film with humanity is like sharing AIDS! It's clear that this was probably to try and get some poor kids who were new to the show to buy this tripe, by making the Turtles act like costumed mascots at Disneyland.

This VHS consists of very little plot; the Turtles need to get a present for Splinter for Christmas. That's it. And what could easily take a few minutes, turns into 30 of the most infuriating minutes of yer life. The Turtles apparently need to sing a song every 4 to 5 minutes. No villains, no real conflict, no good anything. This is one of the times where you wish Shredder would come in and kill them, but no. This is as cutesy and family friendly as the Turtles ever got. Say for the even worse Turtle Tunes.....which has no story.....just the Turtles singing songs. (We'll get to that hopefully never)....

Possibly one of three things will happen when watching this thing. If not all...

1.) You realize that God does not exist....

2. ) Yer uncontrolled fury may make you lash out at the people you know or love. Not on purpose, but the simple fact is that yer gonna get pissed looking at the movie (if you can call it that), and yer gonna wanna take that anger out on something or someone, knowing full well that the people responsible for this travesty, are either in hiding from shame or have committed ritual suicide.

3. ) Which is the most likely to happen, yer anger and bitterness will fester, and boil within you. Reality itself will almost seem to rip apart, as you try and deal with your shock and disgust. You may start vomiting out big black streams of horrible darkness, that spew forth on the ground and twitch and convulse forging from itself, the most terrifying creatures imaginable!

But trust me.....anything is better than "We Wish You a Turtle Christmas"

Terrible Ideas: The Rosey and Buddy Show

Lurkin' on youtube can be fun and nostalgic....then they're times when you find shit that you would rather forget. One of which was "The Rosey and Buddy Show", a primetime animated special that featured Roseanne Barr and Tom Arnold (having fun yet?), as Rosey and Buddy, two characters who move to cartoon land.....or some shit. Now, according to Wikipedia, this aired two after the cancellation of Roseanne's first and only animated series, Little Rosey, and because of the clash she had with the executives about Little Rosey, she apparently decided to get "revenge", by making an animated show where she demonized the Executives at ABC.....on their own network.

Didn't work.... Roseanne and Tom weren't good at making cartoon humor...or apparently making fun of their bosses. Now you might notice that the presence of the Care Bears or that some of the background music, noises and animations seem familiar to Beetlejuice...that's because this show was made by Nelvana, the people who made those shows.

Roseanne and Tom Arnold's views on the ABC executive is a little one sided, depicting the decisions made behind the scenes similar to the ones that had been made up till the end of the 80s. In part two you can clearly see that Rosey and Buddy, aren't happy with being on a show that is tied solely to merchandise. With the Executives saying that cartoons are only their to sell merchandise to kids. And therefore, have no substance.......

I wanna remind everyone that this special was in May 1992..........y'know what cartoon aired in September 1992?

So, let's just wrap this up, the show was terrible, the supposed "Cartoon Land" is depicted as being nothing more than a world of PSA cartoons, and any character deemed not like it is put into an asylum, which in all honesty is actually the funniest part, when you hear the name of it. The Betty and Veronica Clinic. Here, Tom, Jerry, Beetlejuice and caricatures of characters they couldn't get the rights to are stowed away. Which is the real shame. The cartoon character we see in the asylum are the people we'd rather watch than Rosey and Buddy. And even when these others are on screen, the terrible writing keeps them from delivering puns, gags or jokes that they would normally pull in their own shows. Roseanne's views on the cartoon world are terrible and old fashioned....and again, this was 1992...by now, Heavy Metal was a memory, Ralph Bakshi released Cool World a few months later, Inhumanoids had depicted undead imagery and cannibalism and glorified it years earlier, Hasbro had balls and killed Optimus Prime and Megatron (they pussed out on Duke from G.I. Joe) in theaters and the very company that made this show was responsible for the awesomeness that was Rock & Rule!

And FYI. One of the characters Rosey keeps talking to is a parody of the Looney Tunes character Bosko.....who isn't on TV anymore, not because he was swing mallots, but because he's supposed to be a "Black Faced-Negro Boy".........so it was political correctness that got him removed.

Now anyways, if you have time to kill or if you hate yourself, go ahead and watch the god awful Rosey and Buddy show.

DC VS Marvel: A Card Store Owner's view on things

So I'm at my local comic shop yesterday (like I usually am), and the owner comes in and we gab about what's happening in the comic book world....Namely, DC's alternate timeline reboot. DC comics is planning on starting the entire line at issue one, with certain events changed. The most notable are Batman's identity being Thomas Wayne (Bruce's father), Sgt. Rock and Bad Company being a black ops team and a sexier Harley Quinn being in Suicide Squad.

The boss man, had this to say.

"It's a big mistake, DC keeps wondering why their numbers are off, it's because DC's bland. DC is the conservative of the big two, they don't do anything risque, they play it safe. If I held up the covers of Wonder Woman and Ms. Marvel, which one would pop more?

Can you name the last new character they had? "

We talked more, and I mentioned how I think DC should have an Adult imprint similar to how Marvel has the MAX imprint. Now DC does have Vertigo, but like the boss man said, "That's not really like Marvel MAX, that's more like a "weirder" imprint".

He went on," Look what happened when DC got Wildstorm from Image, they sales aren't the same. They toned down all the sexuality, and the covers."

I even brought up how that when DC does something a little more mature, Marvel seems to deliver it harder. Example: Rage of the Lanterns had Atrocitus grab a Green Lantern and rip him in half across two pages (ironically a clean rip too).

Marvel's Seige on the other hand had Sentry rip Ares in half pouring out his organs on two pages.

The boss went on to say how it'll most likely hurt the sales of DC comics more than it'll help, mostly due to the fact that collector's will most likely be put off by starting their entire collection over again. Or get upset at how they were involved in a certain storyline only to have it all restarted from a completely different place.

Now before you go thinkin' I'm a complete Marvel fanboy ripping on DC, I'm not. I love DC too, but I just happen to buy more Marvel comics than DC. I love their animated shows though, Batman the Animated Series, Justice League, Teen Titans, Brave and the Bold and Young Justice are incredible shows and I'm happy to own the DVDs to enjoy them! As for movies.....

I am one of the few Batman fans who doesn't like the Dark Knight movies!

In the last two years, I've been to more midnight movies than I ever thought! Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America: First Avenger! The big three have been awesome! And I'm lookin' forward to the Avengers! Now DC believes they can make a Justice League movie, the problem is they haven't even established that Batman and Superman live in the same universe. If they established the big three; Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman like Marvel did, they could pull it off........but it's too late to do it now. The next Batman movie is the last, and the one after that will be a reboot. Whatever...........while all you are "Waiting for Superman", I'll see my "Avengers Assemble!!!!"

I've decided to stop wasting my life, and live it the way I want. I want to do my art as a source of income, which lookin' at my revenue from it in the last month...is totally possible for me to just draw and pay the rent and get some extra cash with it.....I've put in my two week notice at work. A decision my family still doesn't know about, and probably won't since none of them read my blogs on any of my websites or even bother to talk about to me about anything.

I'm just tired of putting my happiness on the back burner like this....for fuck's sake, I could be considered selfish if I had a wife and kids...but I don't. And at this point, I should show my family that I am capable of taking care of myself, and the folks around me by doing what I love! And in the last week, I've been terrified of stepping out into new ground, afraid of royally screwing up and being a failure. And ironically, the only folks who believe I can do this, are the people I've chosen to leave. But it's not like they'll never hear from me, or see me.

I think what's made me rethink my life, is finally meeting someone who truly accepts me for all my faults and unusual mannerisms. And of course, for those who read this blog, you know I didn't meet her, by going on blind dates, going on Match.com, or any of that....I met her by showing her my cock on the phone. Almost in a blink of an eye it's made clear, since I am far from being a creature of order, and am more a creature of chaos, it fits that I should choose the chaotic route, for it has rewarded me, where order has not.

Am I wasting my life?

I'm 27 now. Turned in June. I have now recently suffered a minor back injury at my work (key word is minor...I have a sprained back...and no damage to my spine or ligaments..to the best of my knowledge). In the recent years, my job has hit hard times. I've had my hours cut, and my benefits depleted to nothing, if I stay home sick or whatever, I don't get paid for that day. Now normally that be fine, but the level of danger in my work has not decreased......now I know that my back injury could of been very well prevented with some extra care. Course it's easier for me to say that in hind sight, what happened is done. Doesn't help that I had an ACL injury some years ago (now that was an injury!), which I've totally recovered from now, but still the level of danger is just as great as it ever was.

Since it's a construction job, I already knew the danger to begin with, but with our hours and benefits slashed, it's all the more scary. And I'm wondering if I'm just wasting time doing this...sticking with it, all the while hoping tomorrow will be better....because it hasn't...my bodily pain has gone up, my anxiety is high, and I find myself only wishing I could get away and escape....

I feel old too....I'm 27, and roll out of bed like I'm in my 80's. My joints cracking and popping, my mind fogging up now. My happy go lucky nature is now a cover up, to hide my self hate of existence there.

Not even the line "At least your working" is effective now.....Yeah, I'm working, but I'm not living. Now before you get all, "Think about your family" (no kids, just live with relatives who need rent money), well, apparently, they don't want me working there anymore...and they feel I'm wasting my life doing a job I no longer love or feel motivation for, and letting my true talents go to waste.

I have to take into consideration that I was planning on leaving my job of roughly 10 years for greener pastures this month, only to have this now happen......Me leaving now, will look like a straight out mutiny, and what's really killing me is that I know leaving is what's best for me, and yet I'm dragging my feet about it. The hours are terrible and the pay is shit....and yet, my co-workers had become my family away from home.....should I leave now, before I snap? I feel like I'm on the verge of frenzy every single day...like another person wants to run out of me and scream at the top of his lungs. I never belonged in a job like that, since I feel like a chained animal. I should leave.....one less mouth to feed, one less annoyance in the office. They'd be fine without me clogging the gears.....They could find someone who wants to work and could do a better job, people like me don't belong there.

It's not like I was good at my job anyways......

Troma VS Hulu! The Ongoing Battle for Movies for the People.

In my last blog....I gave you Hulu's response to my question of why Hulu removed "A Nymphoid Barbarian in Dinosaur Hell" a film by Troma. Now according to Lloyd Kaufman himself, the man behind Troma, Hulu has removed this video because they didn't like the title nor a supposed rape scene. (This I can't vouche for since the movie in question is actually one of the very few I haven't seen...along with Squeeze Play). Sadly for Hulu, I'm taking Uncle Lloydy's side in all this, namely because I know from experience that a lot of folks in the movie and entertainment industry have screwed poor Troma over.

Be it critics who don't want to review their movies, because they aren't shiny and new enough. Or Hollywood itself which makes references to the Toxic Avenger, but never fully acknowledges Troma.

Another big example of the mainstream media's screw job over Troma is that in the DC Comics Encyclopedia (DC is owned by Warner Bros. ergo AOL Time Warner) , the entry for Swamp Thing has his nickname being "The Toxic Avenger"....now I love Swamp Thing comics (not as much as Man-Thing though), but I have never heard anyone refer to him as the Toxic Avenger, I've heard characters call Superman the Man of Steel, and Batman the Dark Knight...but never heard a character refer to Swamp Thing as the Troma mascot.

But besides all that is this, if Troma's movies can get deleted off of Hulu, what content will be available. I love Family Guy, but for fuck's sake, how many stations does Family Guy need to be on, does Jersey Shore (a show I refuse to watch) need to be available 24 hours a day just in case people missed the marathon MTV had of it. Doesn't Troma, a great and fun alternative to mainstream movies and nonsense deserve a good of a shot as human parasite Charlie Sheen did. (Lord knows Sheen would just fuck himself over anyways). Troma has been independent for damn near 40 years. It has introduced us to numerous up and coming actors and directors. And to this day, South Park creators Matt and Trey still love their Troma entry Cannibal! the Musical, but Comedy Central would never address it. Shouldn't YOU be able to choose what you wanna watch anything on TV or Internet TV sites? Is Hulu in good enough standings to decide what you should watch. (Because according to them I need to watch Gossip Girl and Jersey Shore)

Tromadance which is Troma's answer to Sundance is a free for all venue. Sundance still charges money to just submit films and then to watch them. God only knows how much money you spent to see two gay cowboys not acknowledge their feelings, where you could have seen Redneck Zombies.

Troma chooses to still be different in a media world of standardization, chooses to be new and daring, and chooses to keep the twin towers in the intro of Toxic Avenger, whereas Hollywood would sooner deny they were even there in their movies.

Give Art back to the People, Support Troma!!!

Old Troma, the leader in crazy ass movies has hit another bump in the road...in this case it's Hulu removing one of their movies. I know that one doesn't seem like a whole lot, but what's to stop Hulu from removing more....

Dear Hulu,

Earlier this week I was hoping to finally watch the Troma Film "A Nymphoid Barbarian in Dinosaur Hell", as I had just shown my friends Toxic Avenger on-line. I wanted to know for what reasons did you remove it....was it because of objectionable content. That shouldn't be the case since you have "Birth of a Nation" on Hulu, a movie depicting the KKK as heroes. I doubt the subject movie was even close to that level of offensive.

I have a feeling you'd argue that Birth of a Nation is a part of cinema history, and is exempt from political correctness. That being said, shouldn't the fact that Troma being independent for almost 40 years, and still making films make them instant for cinema history.

Hopefully you'll make the right decision and bring back the Troma movie.

Savage Streets : Code Red VS Arrow

Unfortunately with the downfall of BCI (the DVD company behind many of the Filmation releases), many of their licenses have been acquired by various companies. The one we're talking about today is the insanely awesome rape-revenge flick; Savage Streets. After the rape of her sister, Lineau Quigley (Return of the Living Dead fame), and the death of her best friend, Linda Blair is loose on the streets with a cross bow, ready to dish out justice to fearsome foursome known as the Scars. Now because BCI went under, the DVD (which I already own) has sky rocketed in price, ranging anywhere between 40 and 90 bucks on Amazon.com.

Now for us fans of cult, horror and exploitation. Something the world never expected has happened. Two seperate companies (both of which have their loyal fans) are releasing Savage Streets. In this case it's Code Red (US) and Savage Streets (UK).....a classic battle of America VS England.

Now I'm not gonna deny that I'm one of those nerds who gets the best version available. I don't own the crappy US release of Last House on the Left (original), I have the 3 disc UK edition with the poster art. Now usually for horror movies, the UK edition is better because of features or the insanely awesome box sets. But every now and again, us Americans actually do it right. The Roger Corman collection by Shout! Factory, the Alien Egg Blu Ray Box, and even stranger, we had a better package for Ichi the Killer.

The difference here is that we have a US company that is known for releasing the best version they possibly can. They even have a blog, to who they talk to and what they did to try and get as many special features as they can!

And on the other hand we have an equally awesome UK company that is releasing Uncut copies of movies for the first time in their country, since the Video Nasties scare! That in itself is awesome.

But now we have folks on twitter, and on blogs trolling against both companies, saying who's is "better". Frankly, both releases will have things that the other will not have, and because of that, you probably need to get both. Now I know yer thinking "Why should I get both?", if yer a huge fan of Savage Streets like me, you'll get both, as to learn as much as you can about the film and who made it and what went on to make it, and even how the creators and actors feel now. If yer a fella who's never heard about Savage Streets and wanna give it a try......well it depends on where you live. Seriously, if yer not a huge fan, just get the one nearest you.

And for those who're going "But who's the better DVD company!?"....To you I say, "SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!"

Code Red releases that are better than the UK's include: Slithis, Rituals, the Boardinghouse, Madman, Redeemer: Son of Satan, and soon to be Nightmare (Nightmare in a Damaged Brain)

Arrow Video releases that are better than the US's include: Slaughter High, Battle Royale, Deep Red, the Funhouse, Maniac Cop, and I Spit on Your Grave

Oh yeah, and there's tons of companies in other countries that have their own super awesome releases, don't get me started on the Demons 1 and 2 (Japanese Box set) or the City of the Living Dead (German Zombie head box)

So in the months that come, I'll have the out of print BCI release, the VHS, an autographed vinyl soundtrack and the two bitchin' releases by both Code Red and Arrow.

And to Code Red and Arrow Video, you make it good to be a horror geek, and I love collecting yer releases. Just keep going! I refuse to choose one over the other!

South Park "You're Getting Old"

Last night was Wednesday. And like most Wednesdays, I watch South Park on Comedy Central. Now the show has been on for 15 years....I was in Middle School when it started (makes me feel old already). Last night's episode of South Park has the world talking....is the show coming to an end?

NO! It's not!

I'm royally pissed that every TV review site has asked is South Park ending, not bothering to research that Trey and Matt are under a contract till 2013. Which'll get renewed again most likely. So go ahead and shut up about it.

Two: Why do you care all of a sudden.....people online have this nasty habit about complaining about the quality of things, but start freakin' out if said thing is gone all together. Once again, Trey and Matt are under contract till 2013.....the rest of the season will start in October.

BUT!

That's not the point I was trying to make....I wanted to say that the show....well it was the first time that South Park, actually touched my heart. I was now concerned about the world of these characters....and their actions. Here I was watching it like a woman watchin' a soap opera. I've enjoyed this season of South Park a great deal....especially this season's Butters episode....

If anything it shows that Matt and Trey are capable of making us care.....

Why I still hate Rob Zombie's Halloween remake

Now before I start this....I know this is old news. Zombie's Halloween 1 and 2 have already come and gone. The problem is; the bad taste is still in my mouth. Even though, there are plenty of awesome movies that came out that totally took my mind off of it, but I still never really gotta chance to talk about the piece of shit movie that is Rob Zombie's Halloween.

But recently, it seems like everyone who asks me my opinion about the remake of Halloween...and when I tell them I hate it, they go "But why, Randy? I figured you'd like it..." Well I don't, and before you get up in my cheerios about it. Ask yerself something....do you like horror movies (at least 50 that were made before 1999) or do you just like Rob Zombie. That's one of the key differences....but I'm not above letting people like what they like, I'm just explaining why I don't like it.

Here's the ingredients to Zombie's Halloween films:

Vintage Rock
Every actor from House of 1000 Corpses/Devil's Rejects
His wife has a major role (regardless of being dead in the second)
Trying to fix plot holes from the original while creating a universe of his own

Are to name a few. We could go all night and day, with what's wrong the movies. But what's really wrong is this. Zombie made the movies only to get a contract with Dimension films. That's the only reason! He was willing to shit on a movie (and look for interviews of Zombie saying he doesn't like 80's slashers) solely to benefit his career. Not to mention....

Yeah that's El Superbeasto (title character from Zombie's fifth film) hitting the newer Michael Myers....that might as well say how much he didn't like it. And didn't care.

I can't know what it's like to be you.....If yer reading this, you hafta' have some baring on Horror and Exploitation movies, or you like all the dirty pictures I draw of cartoon characters....either way you kinda know what's going on......I'm just plain desensitized. Other folks on the other hand, are squeamish and insanely moral about certain things.......religion, children, death, sex...so on. And before I go any further...........

I first heard about "A Serbian Film" from Cinema Snob (ThatGuyWithTheGlasses) who put it at the top of his list of the worst movies of 2010. He went on to say "I'm not a prude, my favorite film is Caligula"....which only makes me think he is....

If you got actually got scared or offended by: Deliverance, Hardcore, 8mm, Last House on the Left (Original or Remake) or Irreversible. Then you shouldn't watch "A Serbian Film"

But for the horribly depraved, such as myself, the very idea of a director yelling out "Newborn Porn" in a post 2010 movie is amazing and grand! (And if yer really interested to know, the Newborn thing was kinda done already in a real porn, as a Japanese star known for her pregnant fetish videos gave birth on set while filming). The story about an aging porn star who needs money and decides to do an "Art" film for a psychotic director who believes that pedophilia, necrophilia and murder are just plain entertainment.

The movie industry gets a little cooler today. But still pisses me off that there is no talks of an Uncut release for this amazing movie. For those curious, seek it out. For the morally depraved it is a must have!

10 Life Lessons learned from Death Wish

It's no fooling that the Death Wish series has it's place in film history as pretty badass action films. My own personal favorites of the series are 1-3, but 4 and 5 still capture my heart a little. Paul Kersey (Charles Bronson) is sympathetic as he is an average bleeding heart liberal who is, by horrible events, transformed into a killing machine of justice. We can relate to Paul because a lot of us have been screwed over by society, crime or even the system to which is supposed to keep us safe. When the movie came out, the late 70's crime rate was one of the highest in American history, and as a result people flocked to this movie, just to see Bronson kill the scum of urban blight. People cheered during the scenes as Paul Kersey shot criminals, even if he shot them in the back (we all know criminals would do the same)

But in all honesty, there is something to learn from the very first Death Wish! So here we go; 10 Life lessons learned from Death Wish!

10. Maybe...you should own a gun

Now I'm not gonna pretend like I'm unaware of the accidental death of children who live in a house with a loaded gun, or even ignore the horrible Tuscon shooting that took place not 3 weeks ago. But one thing doesn't change, if you have a gun....you equal the playing field against an attacker, or even completely One-Up him. The tragedy that is the first half of the film could easily be avoided had the Mother or daughter were packing heat. If you pay attention; Jeff Goldblum's character is the only one with a gun (though it's never clear if it's loaded), taking him out, take his gun, and either make the other two surrender, or kill them straight out (by United States law you are allowed to kill someone if they break into your house).

Don't get me wrong, I know that if this didn't happen, there'd be no movie. But it's a flaw to be pointed out!

9. Police Hate Vigilantes (Kinda')

And it's a fact. Paul Kersey takes the law into his own hands and get's Judge Dredd/Frank Castle on every thug in town, the police are frantic to get a hold of him. It's bad enough the Police have to deal with crime on a daily basis, without somebody going around and doing the things they wish they could. Police are sworn to uphold the law, which means they can't go around and just kill criminals on the spot. Now, there is of course a good amount of dirty cops and jerkass cops we all know....and for everyone of those, there's tons who are just busting their ass just to keep the rest of us and themselves safe. But even then, sometimes there's not enough manpower to take care of every single problem, and now some Vigilante has shown up and makes the cops look like they sit around and gobble donuts all day, because he's making an impact!

On top of that, at one point, the District Attorney asks the Detective looking for Paul, just scare him off to another city or not catch him at all. Crime is going down, because criminals don't know who is the Vigilante, and citizens so inspired by the tale are fighting back against crime......if Paul leaves, the Police can maintain control over a lower crime riddled city with little or no effort.

8. The Police can't fix everything

Like I said above. Sometimes there is just not enough manpower to fix everything. Hell if yer unlucky and you talk to a dirty cop, there's not just manpower but just plain lack of interest into your case. The point is is that the Police are human and as a result can only do what's humanly possible, if any effort at all. Paul wants the muggers to be caught, but with lack of surveillance and lack of witnesses to testify, it's damn near impossible to find them.

7. Killing someone isn't easy

You may think it is. But it's the one thing that keeps a lot of you from killing in the first place. A ton of things come into play....the law, morals, religious views, personal view of yourself...everything. Paul is shocked when he kills a man, and more horrified when he doesn't die outright, but instead rolls and writhes in pain.

6. Hide in Plain Sight

As the news media blare about the "Vigilante Killer", Paul is sitting comfortably at a restaurant eating with coworkers, none the wiser that he is in fact the very same man they speak of on TV. Even after the death of his wife and assault of his daughter, rendering her to an almost vegetable like state, Paul (like most people in his position) is trying to get his life back together, as far as his coworkers are concerned, Paul is still a bleeding heart liberal. Hell, when the police look up his record, he's spotless. Paul doesn't change his attitude or his mannerisms for the most part and because of it, no one thinks he's the "Vigilante Killer"

5. At any given point, someone, somewhere, sometime will try to fuck up your life

The chances vary for the most part, but yeah. Some people get their jollys from causing pain to the undeserving. But it's how you deal with it, that is the most important part. Paul decides, besides going on a hunt, to not mope around forever and just do the best he can by his daughter.

Through any number of circumstances, many of us will be victims of crime, and if not will know someone who has. And it's a lot to have on your mind at any given time. Who did it? Why did they do it? All these things come to mind. But how you deal with it is still the most important part of the matter at hand. Many choose to close themselves off from family and friends and others will actually deal with it and try and fix it. Facing the problem is the hardest part......

4. Being Civilized doesn't mean "Be a Pussy"

"If we're not pioneers what are we? What to you call people who run away instead of defend themselves" Paul asks his Son in Law.....

"Civilized?" He responds. The problem with our so called "Civilized Society" is that it tries to promote pacifism as a means to an end. Whereas history has shown that pacifism (unless yer Ghandi) gets you dick. Being civilized has nothing to do with being a door mat to assholes. The movie show's that we have become too reliant on a law system while not attempting to protect one's self or one's family.

3. Never assume anybody is completely Harmless

This is more of a lesson while looking at the movie through the eyes of the crooks. Just because someone looks harmless doesn't necessarily mean that they are. Sun Tzu said in his book; the Art of War "Appear Strong when weak, and weak when Strong". Paul knows these assholes aren't gonna fight a cop or a guy who looks like he's killed 12 people on the way home. They go for somebody who looks like he might give up without a fight. And that's the bait. Predators look for prey, that's obvious, but sometimes predators rarely see a trap in waiting, not until it's too late.

2. "You'll have to take it!" roughly translates to "Last chance to leave before I fuckin' kill you!"

If you walk the walk, and talk the talk. If you show someone a knife or gun and say "Gimme yer wallet"...and they say "Take it from me..." Then you should back down.

If their response is not fear but enthrallment, that means the other guy has an Ace up his sleeve. It could mean he has a more powerful weapon, a pal waiting in the shadows, or he's a faster draw with his weapon. Overconfidence has led many people to ruin, solely for thinking they are the best, and there is no greater. As for these guys they found out otherwise

1. Sometimes....YOU are the only person who can make things right.

It comes down to this. Paul Keresy's life is ruined in a few days after returning home from vacation. He asks the police for help, to no avail. After spending time in Arizona with a client for housing, who tells Paul about how they feel more safe out there, because most citizens are packing heat, it's then that the seed of inspiration is planted. Meanwhile, Jack (Paul's Son-in-law) isn't taking care of Carol (Paul's daughter) the way he should be after her ordeal. Paul decides to take charge, taking care of his daughter the way he see's fit, which as it turns out is the best way, as his son in law starts falling apart.

Paul decides to use the gun he was given....resulting in the death of a drug addicted thug in the park. Doing so, Paul makes a huge decision in his life. To do what the law will not allow. To truly own his life and his actions. Now this doesn't mean you should go on a shooting spree, it means you should be in charge of your own life. And even at one point soundly realize the consequences of your actions

Mills Creek re-relases BCI's DVDs with half the effort.

This is BCI's release of D&D the Animated series back in '06.

This is Mills Creek's re-release from 2009.

Now this may look pretty close, and from the untrained eye, you probably figure it has the same amount of features. Guess what? No it doesn't! BCI had the rights to not only D&D the animated series, but to all, and I mean ALL, of BCI's Filmation releases. Mills Creek is re-releasing all of BCI's now liquidated assets, but releasing all of them "bare bones". Meaning zero special features. Now for a title like say "Horseland", this is okay, considering that the fans of the show are relatively new to it, and what they haven't learned from the internet they can insert themselves from the video games it's based on.

But for geeks like me trying to recapture his youth (if only for a moment) by watching old tv shows, I like learning new things about it or hearing the opinions of those who worked on it. I fuckin' love special features, I love watching movies and shows with commentary! And even though the copies Mills Creek is releasing are far cheaper and could probably sell better, it doesn't change the fact that it won't have anything remarkable attached to it.

Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D......oh look an Executioner

On Wednesday, I saw Resident Evil:Afterlife with some friends. I already knew the movie was gonna stink, because the others kinda stank too........ But the discussion about plot holes is more fun than the movie.

The biggest question of everyone's mind is this: Where the fuck did Executioner come from???

No seriously, he just shows up at one point. Literally just shows up! He just starts walking through the city all of a sudden and then pounds on the gate of goodguy's hideout. Mr. Stereotypical Evil Villain scientist who most likely, though never explained, wants immortality or superpowers or some shit, that's never explained. And to make matters even weirder and more confusing, he's collecting survivors of the t-virus apocalypse, and still continues experimenting on them......Yep, no plan to repopulate humanity as slaves or anything, it's the same old song and dance. And not just that, he battles Chris and Claire with some crazy Matrix style movements, and yet isn't fast enough to avoid getting a point blank shot from Alice (who by the way, has to powers anymore at the start of the movie, due to an anti-virus).

This has been a long time coming, but a bullshit story I had a concept for ,which I totally ripped off from the hentai anime Anal Sanctuary, on the grounds that in the hentai, a violine is used to summon a shit eating tentacle creature that sodomizes girls at a university (typical), and figured since Madison plays the violine would just incorporate that into it.......The concept was by me, the actually story and actions were made by my pal Shroomy. Hopefully he'll comment on the subject too!

What got me going on doing it again was picking up season one of the show, which is only available in Australia on Region 4 DVD.

Don't get me wrong, I ain't no Shakespeare, in fact I probably sound like the Jerky Boy Frank Rizzo when I write, but I know when things sound a little....off. Look at the picture, would Katara really say that? I mean, I'd like it, but it's not her character, I see Azula being more like that..............Y'know what nevermind, it dawns on me that it's all just fantasy, but maybe that's the problem, it doesn't match the fantasy well.

There will always be a need for Halloween movie marathons, especially for people like me. But what movies do I like to watch for the honor of Samhain is pretty mediocre. Anyway, here goes my list:

Ranarchy's Halloween Movie Picks!

John Carpenter's Halloween ('79) : All you Rob Zombie fans can have yer lackluster shit of a remake. I'll stick to the original classic slasher! This movie will always be awesome, namely because of it's atmosphere. Considering Halloween is a time where everyone dresses up like monsters, it makes it work that a raving loony puts on a mask and blends in the common folk without suspicion. For Horrorhounds and Slashers, this is mandatory!
Trick or Treat : What's better than Ozzy Osborne playing an evangelist leading a crusade against metal, and Gene Simmons as a radio DJ? How bout a kid who gets a haunted cassette tape that brings forth the evil spirit of a Satanic rock star Sammi Curr, who comes out to kill so he can be whole again! Obviously not for everyone, but this flick rocks!
The Monster Squad : Which many folks have dubbed "the Goonies for Horror fans", is much more than that. The least of which is the late, Great Stan Winston's special effects. A true tale of self discovery as a group of boys put their knowledge of monsters to the test when real monsters show up in their small town, all of which are based on the Universal monsters; Dracula, the Wolf Man (who has Nards!), Frankenstein's Monster, the Mummy and Gillman (the Creature from the Black Lagoon...seriously that's it's name in those movies too...look it up). This is one bitchin' movie to enjoy on Halloween night since it gathers our favorite monsters and pits them against a rag tag group of kids Always Awesome!
Night of the Living Dead ('68) : Now just like the Monster Squad, this is not Halloween themed, but this is a true classic. The original black and white movie that started the Zombie craze! It still maintains it's edge, even after all these years! A classic forever!
Trick R' Treat : I was waiting for such a long time for this movie to be released and I was not disapointed, it is a great Halloween film! And truly deserving of it's spot as a underrated heavyweight!
The Halloween Tree : Yes! Even I have soft spot for this Hanna-Barbara (now Cartoon Network studios) made animated feature. As the voice of Leonard Nimoy and the narration of Ray Bradbury, leads us on a very complex look at the Holiday itself, as four friends seek out the soul of their fifth member. What grabs many about this film is how it plays, not whiny and annoying as some other cartoon fairs, but quite as serious as Secret of Nimh portrayed itself to be. This is one highly recommended movie for fans of animation and Halloween. It's a shame it hasn't been given a DVD treatment, but all good things in time.

Heh heh WoW is a weird game.....but to me, very boring. I like fantasy and magic and all that shit, but I'm a massacre/bloodbath kinda guy....y'know, Splatterhouse, God of War, Gears of War, Resident Evil 4, Manhunt....y'know that kinda shit. Anyways, most this stuff just cracks me up. Everyone has sumthin' they do, or sumthin' their addicted to. But to glued to a computer screen playing a game for that many hours is kinda strange.

Cuz even when I play Bioshock or Mortal Kombat Deception, I feel the need to go and eat....or poop....or try and hustle girls....noticed that I said "tried". But don't get me wrong, you should do what makes you happy, and video games make sum people happy.......I'm not blaming the game. It's the people who have no real life or have depressive problems and who's relatives/parents make big stinks about the game on tv.......

The reason I bring this up is because, let's face it. Remember the lady who said her son (Shawn Woolley) killed himself because of Everquest.

At one point you hafta take responsibility for your own actions. Why didn't Shawn's Mom take action sooner, why didn't she get more involved with what was happening to her son? Why did it take his own suicide for her to realize how far he had fallen?
